Phew, how hectic was 2020? We were not expecting this to be the start of the new decade and we certainly did not expect another lockdown at the start of this year. Let’s just hope 2021 is better than 2020 because honestly, what was that? However, don’t despair yet; here are a few things to look forward to this year and hopefully make the current situation more bearable:
1)Tokyo Olympics:
After putting a pause on the Tokyo 2020 Olympics due to the global pandemic, the event is now scheduled for July 2021. Although extra precautions will be taken to ensure the safety of the athletes, we’re still glad it is happening. Many people are looking forward to it. This year, we will be witnessing new sports to the Olympics, such as karate, skateboarding, climbing and surfing.
2)Eurovision Contest:
If you like concerts and music shows, then you will surely like this news. Hosted by the European Broadcasting Union, The Eurovison Song Contest is an annual international song competition, with participants primarily representing European nations. The super popular and famous song contest will start airing again this year. You may have to wait a little bit longer though because they are slowly starting production but it surely deserves the wait.
3)Mars Landing:
NASA’s Perseverance Rover will finally land on Mars on February18th. You can watch it live on NASA’s YouTube channel with a few minutes of delay. So make sure to mark this exciting event on your calendars!
4)T20 Cricket World Cup:
The International Cricket Council’s men’s T20 world cup will restart in India in autumn.
5)New TV Shows:
You probably ran out of things to watch during quarantine, but don’t worry we’re expecting tons of new shows this year. Here is a list of some new shows you could look forward to:
-Amazon is producing a prequel to The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
-The long-anticipated Friends reunion is set to air in march.
-Disney+ is also dropping a lot of new shows this year, if you’re a Star Wars fan you should check out the new spinoff series called Star Wars: The Bad Batch.
6)New Movies:
The highly anticipated Dune is going to see a new remake this year and fans can’t wait for its release. Also set to premiere this year: the James Bond film, No Time to Die and Marvel’s Black Widow.
7)New Music:
You’ll be happy to know that a lot of top artists will release new music this year. Some anticipated new hits include songs from Adele, Sia, Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran and Rhianna.
8)New Video Games:
In 2021, the next-gen gaming consoles and lots of new games, like Deathloop, Far Cry 6, Hitman 3 and God of War: Ragnarok, will be released. For all you gamers out there, get pumped!
9)6G:
Yeah, I know I was also surprised, but believe it or not, 6G is finally coming and we can’t wait for it to come sooner especially since we’re back online! I guess we can finally say goodbye to poor internet connection.
10)UEFA Euro Championship:
The UEFA football tournament was supposed to be held in 2020, making it the 60th anniversary of the contest. However, we are still glad that it will be happening this year! The games will take place in twelve host countries around Europe.
