There is a chance of dealing with quarantine again, since COVID-19 cases are rising both nationally and internationally. There are many students who still can’t comprehend that we are in a pandemic, therefore they continue to underestimate the virus; some throw away their masks, do not abide by social distancing, travel even unnecessary, and so on. Despite rapidly rising cases, most governments remain distant towards shutting down schools again.
I went around during lunch time to ask students from different year groups; asking them for their initial reaction when they hear the word ‘’quarantine,’’ and how they will cope with it again. One common limitation they’ve mentioned was that their motivation would drastically decrease. Some have mentioned that they would improve their study schedule as well as their sleep schedule. Moreover, there were some amusing answers, such as taking a brand-new course to enhance and fulfill a passion and that quarantine won’t affect them at all. Many instantly clarified that they would be joyful about it due to their health not being at risk. Another limitation is that people won’t socialise as much with their loved ones, as well as not participate in extracurricular activities. Internet connections for the Zoom app tend to be really slow and difficult, which leads to students not receiving information clearly and having to contact teachers who are also always busy so everything would be more time-consuming.
In conclusion, some students will be satisfied with staying at home due to it being their comfort zone. However, some won’t be satisfied with the idea of isolation and always remaining at home. We must always put safety first and do whatever it takes to stay healthy.
